Have you planned a yellow wedding for yourself? Yellow is truly a vibrant and bright color and its various shades will help you get a wedding that is sparkling and gorgeous. Here are a few ideas to get you going. Do keep in mind though, that the primarily yellow tone that you are using should complement the time of the year. For example, deep gold look better during winter while brownish yellow ocher is more of a fall color. Similarly, for summer, brighter sunshine yellows look more apt.

Yellow Themed Wedding 

Invitation Cards

The first thing to decide is your wedding invites. For this, you could cut out the shape of a sunflower (and stick small black peppercorns in the middle to represent the center of the flower) with yellow paper and stick it to a wire covered with green paper. Writer out your wedding invite on the “leaf”. You could also tie a bunch of yellow flowers (sunflower, buttercups, yellow roses, yellow gladioli) with a gold ribbon and stick your card onto the ribbon itself.

Another yellow colored wedding invite that you could make is to cut out a small chick out of cardboard paper and stick yellow cotton wool onto it to fluff it up. Then stick your wedding card onto this chick. This makes a great idea if you are planning to having a yellow themed wedding during spring time or during the Easter holidays. You could even have simple square shaped wedding cards with dramatic color combinations.

For example, a deep yellow background with white writing and white daffodils painted on one side or even a mint green background with ocher colored writing and a deeper olive green leaves painted on all corners look equally attractive. Use different textured papers to make your cards even more spectacular. Choose from felt, smooth, crumpled etc.

Decorations

You could pair yellow roses with lilacs to decorate the entrance door. Add some ivy and ferns to give it a classic look. The fragrance of the flowers is sure to make the occasion a lovely one. Why not use sunflower pots to decorate either side of the pathways? They look really bright and fresh. You could even have a yellow and mauve, or even yellow and silver hued balloons to decorate the exterior of your venue. Add some glittering streamers to make it more dazzling.

For the inside club your yellow roses, dahlias, tulips etc. with yellow aromatic candles on silver candelabras. For an evening wedding, lots of chandeliers or even huge handing paper lanterns with a soft glowing yellow light look romantic and quite sensuous.

Decorate the chairs with white satin and tie it with a bright yellow organza bow. Add small yellow colored velvet cushion too on each of them. For the backdrop where the bride and groom would be sitting, use a huge yellow chart paper and put up their picture and add sparkle to it by using a lighting arrangement near it.

Table centerpiece

Use a light lemon yellow table cloth and contrast this with a crystal vase filled with white daisies with their bright yellow centers. This decor goes best with a garden weddings or even a country side wedding. Tulips are available all year round. So no matter which time of the year it is, you could always use a bouquet of yellow tulips tied with a white ribbon as your centerpiece idea.

You could even stick a single tulip stick onto small yellow and white polka dotted (or even terracotta) pots and make that your center table idea. You could also keep it simple by sprinkling a lot of yellow confetti and gold glitter on a white satin table cloth.Try filling a small glass bowl with yellow marbles or beads and place it on the center of the table. It looks elegant and smart. You could even have gold fish bowls to form your table centerpiece!

Dresses and bouquets

The bride can carry a bouquet of yellow flowers contrasted with either red roses, pink carnations, white lilies, purple lilac or gladioli, orange gerberas or even the modest green ferns. All these contrasting colors look perfect with the yellow shade. The bridesmaids could be given a smaller bunch of similar flowers while the flower girls could wear yellow flowered wreaths. For the dress, the bride can either contrast her long flowing white bridal gown with yellow topaz jewellery or even have yellow beaded or embroidered work on the gown itself.

She could also wear a short fitted white dress contrasted with a yellow floral appliqued sash. Let her shoes be open toed white in color with a large yellow bow on one side. The groom could add yellow to his outfit by either pinning a yellow rose bud on his suit or even a yellow jeweled tie pin or a yellow colored bow.

The bridesmaids can wear a short one shoulder ruffled floral yellow-pink dress or a long, asymmetrical, layered chiffon gown of a bright sunshine yellow. Don’t forget their yellow shoes too to make it more dramatic. Let them wear yellow and blue neck pieces and long dangling earrings too.

Cake

Yellow can be added to your cake in many ways. You could either use yellow frosted flowers all around the white cake, or have a yellow butterscotch filling in your cake, or place yellow sunflowers all around the base of the cake or even sprinkle yellow colored chocolate sprinkles all around your cake.

You could even add edible gold dust on your cake too! If you want to add some fun then you could make a lot of cupcakes, each frosted with a different yellow flower (or even birds) and place them on a tall dessert tray.

Return gifts

You could give your guests a set of yellow crystal pendent and earrings set in sterling silver. Yellow colored sweets (especially with butterscotch fillings) make excellent return gifts too. Scented yellow candles of different flower shapes are another party favor idea. You could even paint wooden pots with different shades of yellow and plaint small yellow flowering bonsai plants and give it to your guests. A goodie bag filled with yellow marzipan fruits and flowers are also nice return gifts that may be given.
