The color green can make a very dramatic and yet fresh color for a wedding theme. It goes with most colors and also is suitable for a wedding of any season. Here are some ideas that you are sure to enjoy.

How To Plan A Green Wedding Theme

Invitations

Cut out leaves in any shape that you wish and write on it to make your wedding invitation. On a simple white and gold card, stick a green painted dry leaf to create an impressive effect.

Why not buy small green parrots (plastic ones or even a soft toy) and gift that with your invitation card?

Decorations

Florescent green paper lanterns with a red ribbon hanging from below look wonderful when hung from the ceilings for an evening wedding party. Decorate the walls with wreaths made of green ferns and pink carnations. You could even try white lilies and green eucalyptus leaves. The pathway to the venue could be decorated with crotons if it’s a day affair or Moroccon style green glass lanterns for an evening party.

The entrance gate could be decorated with green balloons or even a blue-green combination of streamers or ribbons. You could even make huge pom-pom balls from green tissue and hang it at the entrance. Don’t forget the citrus green colored table cloth and dark forest green colored napkins. Contrast this with either pink, lemon yellow or even a stark white colored cutlery and crockery.

Table Centerpiece

A small bonsai plant (better if it’s a flowering one) on the center of the table looks perfect. You could also have a basket of fruits like kiwis, green apples, watermelons, pears, grapes etc. to form the centerpiece.

A plate full of green colored mint packs and gems would also look nice and inviting. You could even place a few sage green colored decorative berry balls in the center. It looks simple and yet elegant.

Bouquet and Dresses

The bridesmaids’ dress could be either a light mint green short dress with a white bow on the side or even a dark emerald green strapless flowing gown. A green dress with small pink flowers would also look nice for a fun themed wedding.

The bride could add green to her white dress by wearing an emerald or a jade brooch. She could match it with a necklace and a pair of earrings made of the same stone. If she wants to stay away from jewellery, then her white wedding dress could be either embroidered with green thread or studded with crystals and beads of green color.

The groom could have the color green on his tie or his bow. He could also wear a deep green jacket. For the bouquet, the bride could carry one with lots of leaves and small white and yellow flowers in between.

Lots of apple green paper parasols in fresh fruit mocktails and cocktails would be perfect for the occasion. Try making your cocktails with green colored liquor like green crème de menthe, apple flavored vodka, Voodoo Tiki’s Green Dragon tequila, the green Chartreuse or even the absinthe. You could even have a counter serving drinks and hot tea made of green tea.

Have a candyfloss and ice cream counter to handing out some interesting flavoured goodies to the guests. Try melon, apple, grapefruit, mint, avocado and kiwi flavors to keep with the color theme. Don’t forget other green foods like spinach and cheese balls, avocado dips, pesto sauce etc.

Cake

For the cake have a green and white polka dotted wedding cake. You could also decorate the traditional white cake with green leaves. Go ahead and add some sparkle to your cake and decorate it with some faux emeralds mad of blown sugar! Return Gifts

A small flowering cactus placed and gift wrapped in a box would make a cute return gift. You could even try a lucky bamboo plant.
