An anniversary is always a special milestone in a relationship. And what better way to let your partner know how special they are than with an extra special present. Homemade anniversary gifts are fun to make and a joy to receive. They can be cute, funny, elegant, elaborate or just plain romantic. There’s a little bit of all this in the gift ideas given below.
Various Homemade Anniversary Gifts
Personalized Pillow Covers
His and hers pillow covers are a snap to make. You will need cloth, needle, thread and tailor shears. Cut the cloth into rectangular or square pieces depending on the shape of the pillow. For one pillow cover, you will need two pieces of cloth. Sew three sides and then stitch on a zipper. Turn inside out and embroider your wedding date, names or initials.
Beaded Coin Pendant
With the necessary tools and a little soldering experience, you can turn a simple coin into a funky pendant. Pick a coin with the year of your marriage on it. If you don’t have one, you can get it from a shop that sells coins. Tape it down firmly and drill a small hole with a drill bit that can cut through metal. String a length of cord or colored thread through the hole in the coin. String colored glass beads on either side of the coin.
Special Coupon Book
Homemade coupon books make such wonderfully personal gifts because you can print them out with all the things you know your spouse would appreciate. Each coupon can be exchanged for different things like a picnic lunch, date night at the movies, household chores, hugs or a back rub.
You can design them on a computer, print onto glossy paper and cut them out. Staple the centerfold or tie up with a red ribbon. You can add a special message on the cover to mark the occasion.
Personalized Photo Jigsaw Puzzle
Here’s how you make a fantastic jigsaw puzzle out of a favorite photo. Buy a puzzle kit complete with pre-cut blank jigsaw puzzles, cold peel transfer paper and cardboard. Ensure the photo you choose fits the dimensions of the puzzle. Print out the photo on the transfer paper. Follow the instructions on the kit for ironing the transfer paper to fix the image on to the blank puzzle pieces.
Handy Cloth Cover Notebook
You will need a paper cutter and a press to make this gift. Insert 30 sheets of handmade paper between two sheets of card stock. Cut the sides neatly. Clamp down one end of the sheets in the press. Apply 3-4 coats of glue along the spine, allowing it to dry after each application.
Once it is completely dry, cut out sufficient velvet fabric to serve as front and back covers. Sew the fabric on to the card stock. You can cover up the stitches on the inside of the cover by gluing matching ribbon.
Cute Hearts In A Jar
This present would be the perfect decorative piece for a night table. It is incredibly easy to make too. You will need a glass jar with a lid, punch machine and colored card stock. Punch 30-35 hearts out of the card stock.
Using a black felt pen, write funny messages and pop them into the bottle. String a combination of colorful plastic, glass and terracotta beads together and tie it around the neck of the jar for a finishing touch.
