Planning the Event

Given to the emotional importance of the event, all aspects need to be planned in great detail, the most important being the theme and the associated decorations for the event. Colour co- ordinated choice of paper work, flowers, balloons, curtains, gifts and tableware along with pleasant aroma and a soothing ambience would enhance the spirit of celebration.

An exciting theme for baby shower could be based on the rainbow, with each of the VIBGYOR colours adding a unique dimension to the spirit of the event.

Setting the Ambience

A large banner saying “Let’s Welcome the Rainbow Baby” at the entrance will announce the excitement of the expecting mother to the guests. The side walls of the hall can be decorated with paper streamers and balloons in a mix of all seven rainbow colours to set the tone for the event. Sparkling white light across the hall with red and green gossamer for the curtains will add the perfect touch to the shower party.

Large paper lanterns in a random rainbow colour scheme can be hung above each table in the hall with a multicoloured rainbow fan and colourful fluffy paperwork hanging over the center table. Sweet images of little princes and princesses and cute little animals, with tie-dyed sections on the table cloth can elevate the fun quotient of the event. Bright blue table cloth in cotton, linen, and polyester fabric will be ideal with large floral patterns and lace or embroidered borders.

The Cake

Placed on the center table will be a large diaper cake made up of diapers rolled up and tied with rubber bands. The diaper cake with colourful ribbons, pink and blue baby bottles, baby lotion and powder, pacifier, booties, and diaper pins arranged in the successive tiers of the cake will give the expecting mother a glimpse of the key essentials of her days ahead once the baby is born. A red soft bunny can be placed at the top of the cake.

Adding Nature’s Touch

Masses of Bluish-Violet, Bluish–Green, and Red-Violet flowers like Lilac, Lavender and Geranium can be artistically arranged in bouquet and floral vases made of ceramic, china, porcelain, stoneware, metal or crystal glass. Fresh flowers are the most effective way of creating a colourful and cheerful ambience. Bone china crockery with rich accents of the colour Green and featuring innovative patterns and designs will bring serenity of nature to the baby shower.
