Gothic Makeup For Face And Exposed Skin

To be a truly gothic-looking character for Halloween, you will need to have spotlessly blanched skin. You can achieve this effect by covering your scars, pimples and other blemishes with a light colored concealer that matches with the white powder or foundation cream you are going to use.

There are some whitening powders and creams that are specially made for those who want to go in for Gothic makeup.

The Gothic makeup series by Manic Panic (available at Amazon) for instance has some great translucent powder and creams that will suit your purpose. Powder your face, jaw-lines, neck and all exposed parts of your person evenly using one of these whitening powders, or apply a light colored foundation cream.

If you want to add a wee bit of color to your blanched face, you can by using some red rouge or fake blood to really make you look creepy yet beautiful in a dark sense.

For a really smashing Gothic look for your Halloween costume, you can go in for some awesome body art designs using special-effects makeup. If you are dark skinned, you will need to use white colored face-paint which you can find in a special-effects makeup kit.

Alternatively, you can also use a bit of bronze powder to give your face a smooth and oil-free look, and then use makeup in shades of color that greatly contrast with your complexion like white, black, grey and purple.

Goth Eye Makeup For Mysteriously Haunting Eyes

It’s your Goth eye makeup that’s really going to make your whole look pop, and it will make you a glamorous, spooky vamp to boot. Usually Gothic eye makeup involves using a lot of black colored eyeliner.

If you prefer something a little more environment-friendly and natural, you can use kohl. There are different ways in which Gothic eye makeup can be applied to complement a Halloween costume. You can give yourself the cat eye look by lining your eyes with black eyeliner and extending the lines outward in the corners (this makes it look like your eyes slant in a feline fashion).

For gorgeous smokey eyes all you need to do is use liner and a dull grey or black eye shadow. Using an applicator or Q-tip, blend in the eye shadow with your eye liner and let it sort of spread around a little for that smudged smokey look.

For creepy spidery eyes you will need to use a fine brush or applicator to apply eyeliner and then sort of draw out vertical lines from your lower eyelid in varying lengths to create that spidery effect. Alternatively, you can also use false eye lashes and black mascara to give yourself spidery looking eyelashes.

Give Yourself Luscious Gothic Lips

This is the easiest step in applying Goth makeup for Halloween. All you need to do is select the right kind of lipstick and in the right colors. Traditional Gothic dark colored lipstick like black always works well, and you can choose between a matte finish and glossy look for a little extra sparkle.

For a matte finish you will need to apply lip salve as a base, and then apply matte lipstick in colors like black, dark blue, purple, green or red.

For a glossy finish you will need to apply a light coat of lip salve or gloss, and then an even coat of lipstick and another coat of lip gloss. Alternatively, you can use glossy lipstick that comes with glitter for this purpose.

You can also go for a neutral shade of lipstick or pale colored lipstick, and accentuate your pale lips with designs and motifs using special-effects makeup below your lip line.
