Golf Ball Ornaments

Golf balls aren’t just meant for playing golf. If you try out the following instructions, you will find that you can create the most exquisite ornaments using golf balls. You can purchase perforated practice golf balls in sets of 12 at online stores like Amazon and Kmart.

Golf Ball Ornaments

You can also use ordinary golf balls but you will need to drill holes in them. For this handmade Christmas ornament project you will require practice golf balls, acrylic paints and thick gold and silver thread. Paint each golf ball using Christmassy colors like red, gold, green and silver. You can also use other colors to paint these ornaments and you can decorate them with different designs and motifs.

Once the golf balls are dry, you can insert silver or gold thread (you can also use ribbons) in each and tie the ends together to form loops and presto you have lovely handmade Christmas ornaments that are sure to look lovely on your tree.

You can also hang these ornaments above doors and windows. If you want to add a little more decorative appeal to your ornaments, you can thread a few different sized beads or a single bell on to gold or silver thread and attach it to the bottom part of your golf ball ornament.

Glitter Snowflake Ornaments

These delightful snowflake ornaments are remarkably easy to make. All you need is some cardboard, thick silver and gold thread and glitter paint. Using your creative skills draw six point snowflakes on the cardboard. You can make each snowflake unique by varying the design. Using an X-acto knife cut out your snowflakes carefully. Now you can paint them in the colors of your choice and then leave them to dry.

Glitter Snowflake Ornaments

If you don’t have glitter paint, you can always use glitter dust and glue to decorate your snowflake ornaments. Mix glue with a bit of water and apply a coat of this mixture evenly all over a cardboard snowflake using a paint brush. Next, you can sprinkle glitter all over the snowflake until every bit is covered and once it’s dry you can gently tap off any loose glitter. Repeat this process for the rest of the snowflakes. Using a bit of gold or silver thread you can tie these lovely snowflake ornaments up on your tree.

Origami Crane Ornaments

You can bring a bit of Japanese luck into your home this Christmas by putting up origami crane ornaments (cranes symbolize luck in Japanese tradition). In order to make these delightful handmade Christmas ornaments you will need colored paper cut into small squares. Take one of the square papers and make pre-folds horizontally and diagonally twice so that the paper is divided into eight equal parts. Now fold the square into a triangular shape and hold it so that the central point faces downwards.

Now gently push the right and left points of the triangle inwards so that you hold a diamond shape with four flaps. Fold each flap toward the central line on both sides. Fold the top part downwards and then unfold on either side to form a crease. Very carefully insert your finger and open out the folded flaps.

You should now have an elongated diamond shape with two movable points. Make pocket folds with each movable point so that they both point upward. Next, make a hood fold on the left hand point to form the crane’s beak.

Open the vertical flaps to form wings, bending them slightly so that they stay open and voila you’re done! Repeat this process till you have as many cranes as you want and then make holes and thread them with golden thread to complete your ornaments.

You can also add a little extra bling to your crane ornaments by threading on some beads at the bottom of each. Put up these ornaments on your tree for a unique look or string several of them one below the other to form a pretty hanging ornament that you can hang from the ceiling.
