If you wish to celebrate the birthday party of your child indoors, then there are lots of fun and exciting games to choose from for your little guests. These popular games can be played again and again. These party games do not have any common theme. However, they can be incredible add-ons to any themed party too.
Indoor Children’s Party Games
This party game needs some preparation before the activity begins. However, it’s fun and worth the effort. The game needs various sizes of boxes. Once, you collect the appropriate boxes place a prize (You can choose the prize according to the theme of the party) in the smallest of all the boxes. Now, wrap the gift with a golden wrap and tag it as ‘The Grand Prize’ and place this box inside the bigger box.
Repeat this process till you place a gift in all the boxes with each box wrapped and placed inside one another. You can pick some of the generic gifts that either girls or boys will enjoy like candy, small toys and so on. You will now have a large box that contains smaller boxes in it (of course with prizes). The game begins with all the children sitting in a circular manner and passing the box, while you play the music.
When the music in the background stops, the child holding the package will open it and then leaves the circle after picking the gift from the box. The game goes on in this manner and soon only two children will be left. The child, who unwraps, the second-to-last box, collects the gift and then passes on the gold box towards the remaining kid and he/she is the winner, who gets the grand prize!
Variations in the Game
If you are hosting a themed party, then the prizes that you place in the boxes could be related to the party theme. For instance, if it is a ‘pirate party’ then pirate coloring books, eye patches, bandanas, stickers and so forth can be included in the boxes. To make it merrier and to add an extra element of surprise to the game, the kids can pass the box with their eyes closed and once the music stops they could open their eyes to see, who has got the prize.
This is a fun game that every child would love to play, as it allows the children to be devious without getting into any trouble. Moreover, it is a non-competitive game, so everyone wins!
You need to put several items on a table, while the children are waiting in another room. Ensure that they don’t see any of the items before the game begins (the items can be arranged in any manner). Invite the children to assemble around the table.
Ask them to take a look and try to remember the items that are placed on the table. Next, a player faces away from the table and closes his/her eyes. Meanwhile, let another player snatch an item and conceal it from the view.
Now, the first player must try to guess the item that was taken away. If the player is not able to confess then the culprit reveals the item. Now, place the item back before starting the subsequent round. The kid, who hid the article last time will now close the eyes and turn away from the group. Choose another kid to hide the item and continue playing until all the kids will get a chance to guess and snatch!
Variation in the Game
You can place many items for the older kids.
Ha Ha Ha
This is one of those party games that will bring a lot of hilarity and laughter! Make the children either stand or sit in a circular way. One of the kids begins this game by uttering “Ha”, as earnestly as she/he can and then the next child says “Ha, Ha”, and the game continues with every kid adding a “Ha”, when his/her turn comes. The trick here is to ask all the players to have a straight face, while playing the game.
If any child laughs or smiles they go out of the circle. Once they are out of the circle, they get an opportunity to make noise and silly faces, so that the children in the circle laugh. However, they can only make sounds and facial expressions. They are not allowed to touch the players and the kid, who maintains a straight face for the longest duration is the winner.
The kids can wear fake noses and funny hats, which makes it difficult for them to control their laugh.
This is an amusing game for older children, which is similar to the game of pin the tail. They will love the suspense in the game!
Firstly, cut a cardboard in the shape of an airplane for each player. To avoid confusion, write the child’s name on the airplane. Hang a map and mark the ‘runway’ spot at some place in the center of the map. Before beginning the game group all the children at a place away from the map.
Now, place several obstacles such as chairs, pillows, wastebaskets etc. on the floor. Ensure that these obstacles are not too small or breakable, so that kids don’t trip on them. The children must be given some time, so that they can study the position of the obstacles as well as the ‘runway’ spot.
Now, blindfold each kid and give them the airplanes. Ask them to walk in the direction of the map and without touching any of the obstacles placed on the floor. Each child has to pin their airplanes close to the runway (as close as possible).
In case any player touches the obstacles, then it is considered as an airplane crash and the child will be out of this game. If the child pins the airplane on ‘water’ it is deemed as crash landing. The kid, who pins the plane on land and very close to the ‘runway’, is declared as the winner.
You can offer markers, glitter, paint or any other supplies, so that each kid can decorate their planes before starting the game. Kids can also create a ‘fantasy’ map that can be used for the game. For an extra challenge and fun, you could spin the players around 1 or 2 times before they go towards the map. (Don’t spin the kids for too long or too hard).
These amusing games are perfect for any children’s party and are an excellent icebreaker for kids, who do not know each other.
