Cake For A Baby Shower
There is no greater moment of joy than finding out that you are about to become parents. Whether it is the first time or you are about to enjoy the journey of parenthood again, you want to celebrate and you want to share your joy with the world. This is when you start thinking about having a baby shower.
It doesn’t matter whether you are planning a shower for yourself or for a friend who is expecting, there are certain things you just can’t do without, and one of them is a cake. A cake is a great way to indulge your sweet tooth, and it can easily double up as the dessert for the party. In addition to that, the cake allows you a lot of scope for creativity, by which you can show off whatever aspect of baby life or pregnancy that you wish to.

Let Them Eat Cake
Whenever you are celebrating a special day, you need something sweet, and what better to offer at a baby shower, than cake! A cake is a great way to tell the world what you are feeling; for instance, you could tell the world what the gender of the baby is, that is, if you already know about the same. Use a blue coloured cake if you are having a boy and a pink frosted cake, if you want to let the guests know that you are expecting a little princess.
There might be many people who know what the gender of the baby is and have already zeroed in on a name. For such people, displaying the name on the cake would also be a great idea. You can always keep the frosting in keeping with the gender of the unborn child. However, there is no need to despair, if you don’t want to reveal the gender or name of your unborn angel, because there are still plenty of things you can put on your cake, and make it apt for a baby shower.
For instance, how about making baby steps or getting a cake that looks like a baby buggy or carriage? Fondant can be your best friend, when you are planning to make a cake for a baby shower, because using this magic ingredient, you can shape baby booties, or rattles or even a baby face with a bib around the neck. You could have a cake that has alphabet and number blocks, or bring out the baby’s bath time buddies, such as the ever popular yellow rubber ducky, with a red beak!
There are certain images that you always associate with babies and baby showers – these include baby blankets, pacifiers, bassinets, and most importantly diapers! And fortunately enough, these are all images that can be transferred onto a bake quite easily, making sure that you have a fantastic cake for your baby shower.
All babies are cute, even babies of animals, which is why they also make for great toppings for cakes and even for cake shapes. Teddy bears are always loved by kids, and they make for great cakes just as would elephants that look a lot like Dumbo, with their giant ears. Or how about a cake that has little chicks or ducks, which look as if they are following their mommy? There are several other animals that would look great on a baby shower cake, and if you still find yourself confused, make an entire menagerie of animals on the cake!
Then of course, there are cake ideas based on gifts – all said and done, if there is a party, particularly a baby shower, you can expect a lot of gifts. Then why not have a cake that looks like a gift, all wrapped up in beautiful paper and ribbons? You could also do a stack of gifts, each decorated in different colors and tassels. But if you want to keep it simple, you could do a cake with polka dots or flowers. In case, you want to be a little adventurous with the flower garden idea, you could use different flavoured lollipops and have a lollipop garden!

Now, if you are not in the mood to do the typical cakes, you could always consider cupcakes, because they are not just personalised cakes, but totally in fashion these days. It is also a great idea if you don’t want to get into the hassle of having plates and spoons and forks without which it would be difficult to serve the cake slices. With cupcakes, all you need are some paper napkins, and you are good to go. In addition to that, there is so much of your creativity that you can show off with these little, personal sized cakes.
While you could do something as simple as cupcakes with blue or pink frosting, provided you know the gender of your unborn child, you could also do a mix of both, if you are still in the dark about the same. If you know whether you are having a boy or a girl, you could either announce the same on your cupcakes. Ice ‘it’s a boy’ or ‘it’s a girl’ on the cakes or announce it at the shower, by hiding blue or pink icing within the cupcakes.
It is very easy to put ‘babies’ on cupcakes, which is something quite ideal for a baby shower. While you could put a bawling baby on the cake, by using fondant or frosting, you could also do a little baby, that is peeping from under the blanket.
Little birdies are also a great idea to be put on cupcakes, which is why you could have cute little yellow or myriad coloured chicks on the cupcakes. Imagine having a nest and baby birds sticking their necks out to grab the worms that mommy bird brings for them. This too can be translated onto a cupcake and you choose the color of the bird, as per the gender of your baby.
You could also do cupcakes with images that are generally associated with baby showers or babies in general. Place pacifiers or baby blankets on the cupcakes or use bath time favourites, such as rubber duckies or even teething rings.
A lollipop in the centre of the cupcake will also prove to be a crowd pleaser. And then there are the ever favourites, like flowers, which are always loved on top of cupcakes. These flowers could include daisies, sunflowers, roses, pansies or even an entire bouquet!
While cakes might seem the most important part of the menu, there are other sweet treats that are ideal for baby showers. Cookies are a great idea, and these too, like cakes and cupcakes can be shaped and iced in a variety of ways. You can make baby faces, flowers or even one-piece dresses on these cookies.
Use these cookies to announce whether you are having a girl or a boy or color them as per the gender of the baby. You could even do miniature, or baby sized desserts, like lemon soufflés, that you can serve in cups made out of scooped out A baby shower is a great way to get creative, so if you are planning a baby shower, let your creative side jump out!Cake For A Baby Shower,
