Father’s Day is that day in the year when you can’t and should not restrict your father from eating anything and everything he wants. If he likes sweets and cakes, then do not reprimand him when he wants to have second helpings or thirds for that matter! If he has a sweet tooth, then he will appreciate and enjoy the day far more, than doing something which he does not particularly enjoy. If you are going to bake a cake for your dad, then here are some different types that will make him ecstatic with joy!

If you have already planned to bake sweets or cakes for your dad, then the best way to go forward would be to come up with some innovative recipes. For instance, you can take up the poppy seed-speckled treats which are a great way to enjoy some quality time with your dad. The ingredients that you would need to make this treat include a couple of cups of all-purpose flour and more for later.
Half a teaspoon of baking powder and 1/4tsp of coarse salt and 3/4tsp of poppy seeds should be arranged for while baking the sweets. Apart from this, you would need a large egg, a cup of sugar, 1tsp of vanilla extract and a stick of unsalted butter and which is softened.
Bake the Sweets!
Take the flour, baking powder and salt and whisk them in a large bowl. You can take the help of a large wooden spoon for this, so that the mixture retains its true and original taste. Add the seeds to this mixture. Now beat the sugar and the butter for around 6 minutes, until the mixture becomes fluffy.
It should be done on medium level. Now add the egg and the vanilla extract and mix it thoroughly. Reduce the speed to low and add the flour mixture. As the dough begins to take shape, divide the resulting batter into two halves. Take some plastic and wrap the halves in it, by shaping them in to disks. Put this inside the refrigerator and keep it for an hour at the very least.
Preheat the oven to a temperature of 325 degrees. Roll out the dough one at a time and flatten it to a thickness of just under ¼ of an inch on a clear and flat surface. Take a knife and cut out the letters on the dough, in case you do not have templates. Keep in mind the space required for the entire message.
Give even spacing so that the sweets do not look shoddy, when done. As the writing is done, freeze the dough on two parchment-shaped baking sheets in the refrigerator. This should be done for around fifteen minutes. When you take it out, the preparation should be firm and not runny.
Bake the dough for 15-18 minutes, till the sides are golden brown. Keep rotating the sheets halfway through the time frame. Let it cool down on the sheets before you serve the sweets to your father!
